The best teams in Europe learned their fate today in the draw for the 2016-17 Champions League group stage.
Some teams will be ecstatic with the results (Tottenham), while others will be questioning their luck (PSV).
First-timers Leicester City will be pleased with the draw as well, as Claudio Ranieri’s men were given a friendly draw.
However, as we all know, nothing should be taken for granted in the Champions League.
Last season, Manchester United were bounced in the group stage after what many people thought was a favorable draw.
The Bundesliga as a whole will feel hard-done by the draw, with Bayern Munich paired with Atletico Madrid, Dortmund in Real Madrid’s group and Monchengladbach in perhaps the group of death with Manchester City, Barcelona and Celtic.
As for potential dark horses that we can see advancing out of the group stage, look for AS Monaco and Besiktas to get out of relatively soft groups.
